Hello, my name is Allie Markantonis and I’m a fully qualified Integrative Psychotherapeutic Counsellor based at CBT & Counselling West Malling. I’m an accredited member of the NCS (National Counselling Society) and work with adults and young people age 13+.
Starting from where you are now. I can help you find the powerful tools and techniques you need to take you to where you want to be. This is achieved through utilising all the tools in my therapy toolbox.
I also use other skilled techniques. Such as, the highly effective, content free, ‘Rewind Technique’. This is a non-intrusive, safe and highly effective psychological method for working with trauma and PTSD. Being content free means you don’t have to tell me details and it reduces the risk of being re-traumatised.
At counselling West Malling, I offer a down-to-earth and easy to relate to approach. The space I provide for you to explore your concerns is calm and confidential. I’ll help you talk through the times when you don’t feel quite in control or you are experiencing something difficult.
A combination of events, experiences and/or perceptions can conspire, leaving us stressed, depressed or anxious for instance. Or perhaps you are lacking in confidence, have low self-esteem or just feel un-motivated. This may lead you to behave in an unhelpful way that potentially makes things worse. For instance, you may get angry and lash out or you may eat or drink too much avoid situations you find difficult altogether.
This is when I can help you to help yourself. I will help you explore your difficulties and enable you to regain control of your life. Together, we can try and identify the cause of your problems; and deal with them. Instead of being preoccupied with the effects.
I subscribe to and work within the UKCP code of ethics and the BACP ethical framework. I also undertake regular professional development and supervision as well as having professional indemnity insurance.
If you would like to book an appointment to come and see me at CBT & Counselling West Malling then please contact me via CBT & Counselling Kent today. Request to see Allie
Hello, my name is Claire Goulding and I’m based at CBT Canterbury & Whitstable. I’m a professionally qualified BABCP accredited Cognitive Behavioural Therapist (CBT) and a post graduate in Counselling and Psychodynamic Psychotherapy. Therefore, I use a combined approach during therapy.
With over 20 years extensive experience working within various settings. For instance, within adult mental health, substance misuse and adolescent services. Coupled with experience in early childhood sexual/physical abuse and addiction related problems. I now divide my time between my own private work and clinical supervision to other CBT therapists and counsellors in primary care mental health.
I like to think I have a warm, compassionate, accepting approach in order to help you move forward. Cognitive behavioural therapy focuses on challenging and changing unhelpful thinking and behaviours, improves mood and functioning. We will work together to help you achieve the goal you set out for yourself. This will be achieved by developing personal coping strategies that target your individual problem.
CBT or cognitive behavioural therapy tends to focus on what is going on in your life right now. However, we will look at your past to explore how your past experiences might impact your life now. As a result, this can help change the way you think and feel and consequently change any unhelpful behaviours in the future.
My CBT Canterbury can help with a wide range problems including:- Depression, anxiety, anger, stress or trauma. CBT is helpful in dealing with a low self-esteem, family and relationship issues.
I subscribe to and work within the UKCP Code of Ethics and the BACP Ethical Framework. I undertake regular professional development and hold full professional indemnity insurance.
Finally, if you are seeking medication or a medical diagnosis or report. An appointment with your GP or a Consultant Psychiatrist would be more appropriate.

My name is Dr Tim Burns MSc psych. I’m an accredited member of BACP (British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy) offering counselling and psychotherapy Canterbury & Whitstable.
My background has been within adult mental health over the last 15 years. The majority of which, in primary care mental health services.
I am trained in ‘integrative psychotherapy’ which means I take the view that there is no single approach that suits everybody during therapy. Therefore, I bring together different elements of specific therapies to suit your individual needs.
I also practice ‘interpersonal psychotherapy’ which is a focused, evidence-based approach to treat mood disorders. In addition, my MSc level qualification in Psychology adds a deeper psychological understanding during my work.
I’m a compassionate person who strives to provide a safe, supportive non-judgemental environment. I will help you talk through your problems and process difficult life events.
I can assist in the processing of complex or traumatic experiences – both in childhood and adulthood. In addition, I cover a wide range of emotional issues. Such as anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, relationship difficulties and loss or bereavement for example.
We will work collaboratively to establish your goal and I will tailor the therapy to suit your specific requirements.
My training allows me to draw upon both attachment and communication theories to help you gain a deeper understanding of how your emotional/psychological issues began. The processing of issues and life events enables the building of coping strategies which will help you effectively manage any on-going symptoms.
I subscribe to and work within the BPS Code of Ethics and the BACP Ethical Framework. I undertake regular professional development and clinical supervision and hold full professional indemnity insurance.

My name is Jonathan Winternheimer MSc and I’m a fully qualified Counsellor based at Cognitive Behavioural Therapy Canterbury and Whitstable. I’m also a qualified marriage, family, and child therapist (age 11).
I have extensive counselling experience and specialise in ‘Systemic’ based therapy. Which seeks to understand the individual in relationship with others, rather than in isolation.
I also practice ‘Acceptance and Commitment Therapy’ (ACT) which is considered the third wave of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. (ACT) is an action-oriented approach to psychotherapy that stems from traditional behaviour therapy. ‘Acceptance and Commitment Therapy’ invites you to open up to unpleasant feelings and learn not to overreact to them. It teaches you not to avoid situations where these feelings are evoked. And instead learn to accept them.
At cognitive behavioural therapy Canterbury, I work to build and sustain a supportive and non-judgmental relationship with you. Therefore, you will feel accepted, valued and understood. This relationship provides the basis for exploring whatever difficulties you are experiencing.
Sometimes it can be difficult to talk to friends and family. We often fear rejection or judgement. Or we may feel we are protecting them by not sharing our innermost feelings. My aim is to support you in exploring whatever issues you choose to talk about.
I will provide you with an environment that will encourage self-discovery and remind you of your unique inner-resilience and inspire you to bring about positive change.
I have 10 years’ experience having previously worked in substance misuse and local and national counselling services.
Outside of my therapeutic experience, I have worked in the Commercial and Charity Sectors in a variety of management roles. I also had the privilege of working with a children’s charity as an Executive Director, which encouraged me to return to university and retrain as a counsellor.

My name is Tracey Neale and I’m a trained EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing) practitioner at EMDR Canterbury. I’m also a fully qualified Integrative Counsellor and Cognitive Behavioural Therapist at CBT and Counselling Canterbury.
Integrative counselling means I draw on a number of different therapeutic theories depending on your individual needs.
Counselling is a talking therapy that will support you in exploring your past experiences and help you recognise any negative patterns, often formed in childhood.
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is based on the theory that our thoughts, feelings and behaviour are all connected. Therefore, if we change one of these we can alter the others. CBT is effective for all kinds of mental health problems such as anxiety, depression and anger.
EMDR: Eye movement desensitisation reprocessing involves the identification of unprocessed traumatic or other distressing experiences that are continuing to drive an individual’s psychological disturbance. EMDR is effective in treating a wide range of mental health problems. For more information – click EMDR Association
