Questions We Are Often Asked
Here are answers to the questions we hear most from people considering therapy
"What's the difference between CBT and counselling?"
CBT is a structured, goal-oriented therapy that focuses on changing unhelpful thought patterns and behaviours. Counselling is a broader talking therapy that explores your feelings and experiences in a supportive environment. Both are highly effective — your therapist will help you find the right approach for you.
"What issues can CBT help with?"
CBT is particularly effective for anxiety, depression, panic attacks, phobias, OCD, stress, low self-esteem, anger management, and sleep difficulties. It gives you practical tools and strategies you can use in everyday life.
"How many sessions will I need?"
It depends on the type of therapy and your goals. CBT is typically structured over 6–12 sessions, while counselling may be shorter or longer-term. We'll regularly review progress together and you're always in control of how long you continue.
"Is what I discuss kept confidential?"
Absolutely. Everything shared in sessions is strictly confidential. Our therapists follow BACP ethical guidelines and won't share information without your consent, except in rare cases involving safety concerns.
