CBT and Counselling Birchington

My name is Sabine Hawkins and I’m based at CBT & Counselling Kent’s Birchington practice. I am a BACP registered therapist along with being qualified in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) therapist. I’m also and Relationship Counsellor.  Alongside CBT I also  practice ‘Gestalt, ‘Transactional Analysis’ and ‘Humanistic therapy’

‘Gestalt’ is a highly positive and practical therapeutic approach. Which helps you focus on your immediate thoughts, feelings and behaviour. This leads to a better understanding of the way you relate to others.

‘Humanistic therapy’ adopts a holistic approach which focuses on free will and self-discovery. It aims to help you develop a strong and healthy sense of self and explores your feelings to find meaning and focuses on your strengths.

Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) looks at your thoughts, feelings may be negatively effecting how you behave.

My experience and  understanding of these various theoretical approaches enables me to draw upon a wide range of tools in order to help you move forward. I don’t believe in a ‘one size fits all’ approach and  will tailor our sessions to suit your individual needs.

Experience

I have many  years’ experience working in variety of settings including universities, providing counselling for both staff and students along with detention centres, offering practical support and guidance, whilst assessing mental health.

I have worked with people who have suffered a bereavement either through long term illness, suicide, murder or neglect. Along with providing therapy for individuals struggling with problems such as anxiety, depression or low self-worth.

How I can help

My aim is to provide a warm, confidential and safe environment in which we can work together to explore your difficulties and help you make sense of things. I will help you gain insight and a better understanding of yourself and what is troubling and provide you with the tools to help you move forward more positively.

I won’t offer you advice but I will take an active role in helping you make the changes in your life that you choose. Feedback from my clients is that I am warm, easy to talk to, perceptive, encouraging and intuitive.

Ethical Standards

I subscribe to and work within the UKCP code of ethics and the BACP ethical framework. Alongside undertaking regular professional development and supervision as well as having professional indemnity insurance.

I provide help and support for any type of problem. Such as anxiety, bereavement, depression, anger management, relationship problems and stress.
