Counselling & CBT Dartford

My name is Audrey Dudman and I am a fully qualified Integrative Psychotherapeutic Counsellor of 25 years, based at Counselling and CBT Dartford.  I am also a Senior Accredited member of the BACP (British Association of Counsellor & Psychotherapists) providing CBT counselling for adult individuals.

Being an ‘Integrative Counsellor’ means I am trained in many different theoretical approaches, including cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT). This means I can tailor my approach to the style which best suits you and your need

I am also trained in working with trauma and PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder) in addition to me being an EMDR Practitioner.

I have been a practising therpist for a number of years both in private practice and the public sector.

My work at Counselling and CBT Dartford is diverse. I am experienced in working with mixed cultures, same gender relationships, families and friendships.

I am experienced in working with problems such as trauma, anxiety and depression. Alongside stress management, work related problems, relationship issues or eating disorders.

I am also a supervisor which means that I support and advise other counsellors with elements of their work.

My approach to therapy

Counselling offers insight into difficulties that may have arisen from your past which may still affect you in the present. CBT therapy focusses on changing any negative thoughts and behaviours you may have into more positive ones.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is based on the theory that our thoughts, feelings and behaviour are all connected. Therefore, if we change one of these, we can alter the others. CBT is effective for all kinds of mental health problems such as anxiety, depression and anger.

Together we will rationalise your situation so that you are able to gain clarity and insight.

We will work with the past, present and the future –

Present – where are you now, what is going on in your life, what has bought you to counselling?
Past – what has happened in your past that may be affecting your present?
Future – where do you want to be?

Using the information gained during our sessions along with the appropriate tools. We will look at how we can do things differently to improve the future and tailor the sessions accordingly to suit you.

I will treat you with the utmost respect, empathy and understanding. I will help you explore any issues, which might be affecting your health, relationships, work and quality of life.

Ethical Standards

I subscribe to and work within the BACP ethical framework. Therefore, I undertake regular professional development and supervision. Alongside having professional indemnity insurance.
