More From Shauna
Hello, I’m Shauna, a fully qualified Integrative Therapist based at CBT and Counselling Kent’s Folkestone practice. I hold a Level 4 Diploma in Professional Counselling accredited by the National Counselling Society (NCS) and I am a registered member of the BACP.
As an integrative therapist, I tailor counselling to suit you. Depending on your needs, I may draw from Person-Centred Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy, Transactional Analysis, Attachment Theory, or Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). CBT is particularly helpful if you feel stuck, as it helps break down problems, recognise unhelpful patterns, and build new ways of thinking and coping. I blend these approaches in a way that feels natural and comfortable for you.
Starting therapy can feel like a big step, but you won’t be doing it alone. I offer a warm, confidential, and non-judgemental space where you will be supported and heard. My aim is to help you work towards positive change, at your own pace, with guidance every step of the way.
In our first session, we will gently explore what’s troubling you and what you might like to change. If you’re not sure yet, that’s absolutely okay — many clients feel the same. We’ll work together to find clarity and direction.
Background and Experience
Before becoming a therapist, I worked for many years in social care, residential homes, and independent living services, supporting adults with physical and learning disabilities. I also hold a degree in Midwifery and gained valuable experience in hospital settings, which strengthened my communication skills and my ability to create a trusting therapeutic relationship.
I have experience supporting clients with a wide range of challenges, including:
- Anxiety and depression
- Bereavement and loss
- Childhood and adult trauma
- Relationship and family issues
- Substance misuse
- Gender dysphoria and body dysmorphia

- Eating disorders
Whatever you are going through, I will meet you with empathy and without judgement, working alongside you at your pace.
