EMDR Canterbury

My name is Tracey Neale and I’m a trained EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing) practitioner at EMDR Canterbury. I’m also a fully qualified Integrative Counsellor and Cognitive Behavioural Therapist at CBT and Counselling Canterbury.

Integrative counselling means I draw on a number of different therapeutic theories depending on your individual needs.

Counselling is a talking therapy that will support you in exploring your past experiences and help you recognise any negative patterns, often formed in childhood.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is based on the theory that our thoughts, feelings and behaviour are all connected. Therefore, if we change one of these we can alter the others. CBT is effective for all kinds of mental health problems such as anxiety, depression and anger.

EMDR: Eye movement desensitisation reprocessing involves the identification of unprocessed traumatic or other distressing experiences that are continuing to drive an individual’s psychological disturbance. EMDR is effective in treating a wide range of mental health problems. For more information – click EMDR Association

My experience

I have over ten years’ experience as a practicing therapist, working within private practice and the ‘NHS IAPT’ (Increased Access to Psychological Therapies) services.

How I can help

I firmly believe that my own personal experiences have contributed to me being a warm, empathetic counsellor. So I will support you in exploring your difficulties and help you understand where they might have originated. We will also look at how you feel about yourself and the world around you.  This will all be achieved through a confidential, non-judgmental therapeutic relationship. Working together we will help you bring about a positive change.

My expertise is with individuals experiencing problems such as stress & anxiety, depression, obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD). Along with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and childhood trauma. Similarly in bereavement, eating disorders and alcohol, drug and gambling addictions.

I also have experience in working with issues include sexual orientation, gender, relationships, self-esteem, family dynamics.

Ethical standards

I’m accredited by the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and work within their ethical framework.

I undertake regular professional development and supervision as well as having professional indemnity insurance.
