Hello, my name is Amanda and I am a fully qualified ‘Integrative Therapist’ based at CBT and Counselling Medway practice. I have a diploma in ‘Integrative Counselling’ and I am accredited by the BACP (British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy) and the NHS.
I provide therapy for adults of all ages, tackling a wide range of issues such as anxiety, depression, anger and grief, to name but a few.
Integrative counselling’ looks at the whole person. This means I will consider your mental, physical and emotional needs and use techniques and tools from different modalities to tailor an individual approach for you.
We all have problems because life can be challenging and times. So if things are difficult for you right now, you might feel you need a little extra help. Not only am I a qualified therapist, I also have first-hand experience of the significant value of counselling. That’s because my own life went through some changes and therapy was invaluable in helping me move forwards.
My counselling experience has been achieved through Mid Kent Mind, the Samaritans and HM Prison Service (NHS Trust Oxleas). I also work with SATEDA (Swale Action To End Domestic Abuse) alongside my own private practice.
How I can help and what to expect
Our sessions will focus on you and what you need, and I will be there to provide you with a safe, supportive, helping relationship. Hopefully this will enable you feel safe enough to talk through any thoughts and feelings you might be closely guarding. I will gently encourage you to talk freely about the problems and emotional difficulties you are facing. My role is to actively listen, without judgement.
My approach is non-judgemental and unbiased. The sessions will centre on you, how you prefer to work and at what pace. I will help you move forward in whichever way you choose.
We will work together to : –
Explore your difficulties and help you find clarity if required
Discuss how any unhelpful behaviours might be contributing to your situation.
Resolve complications or find ways for you to learn to accept and live with them.
Acknowledge and find better ways to deal with any unhelpful patterns of thinking and behaviour.
Problems I can help you with : –
Anxiety, depression, grief, and anger, along with issues of low self-esteem.
Relationship concerns – trust, jealousy infidelity or abuse.
Life events – work, divorce, bereavement and money problems.
In accordance with the membership requirement of the BACP I attend regular continuous professional development. This is to ensure my practice continues to be effective and client focused.
