Counselling Ashford

My name is Dr Mehrshad Arshadi and I’m a British Counselling Psychologist and Psychotherapist based at CBT and Counselling Ashford practice. My bachelor and master degrees are in Clinical Psychology and I have a Doctorate degree (DPsych) in Counselling Psychology and Psychotherapy.

I am also an accredited member of the British Psychological Society (BPS) and the The Health & Care Professional Council (HCPC ).

I have 30 years’ experience working and studying as a clinical psychologist and counsellor within the NHS, charities and within my own private practice.

My extensive training includes adult Psychotherapy, Counselling and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). So I will tailor my approach, depending on your particular problem using of some or all of the following approaches:

  • Psychodynamic Psychotherapy focuses on the unconscious mind.
  • Existential psychotherapy where the emphasis is on your free will and determination to make rational choices.
  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy is based on the philosophy that the way you think about yourself and others affects significantly on the mood you are experiencing.

CBT is known as a ‘short term’ therapy and is particularly effective for phobias, anxiety, depression or anger. It is also helpful if you are having problems concentrating or sleeping due to intrusive and unwanted thoughts.

How I can help

I consider myself to be warm, approachable and understanding. I am broadminded with a non-judgemental approach. My aim is to ensure you quickly feel at ease, so you find it easier to open up and talk.

Together we will take a look back at your past to gain an understanding as to where any problems may have begun. We will then find a way to help you move forward both emotionally and on a practical level.

At CBT and Counselling Ashford I have experience working with adults from all walks of life, different cultural backgrounds and/or sexuality. My work is mostly short- term but I can offer long-term therapy if necessary.

I abide by the British Psychological Society (BPS). The Health & Care Professional Council (HCPC) and the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) code of ethics.

My specialist areas at CBT and Counselling Ashford are as follow: –

Anxiety, Depression
